Here is a suggested guide to setting up and guiding events when doing a film rescoring at the cube cinema:
- Most ReScoring? events require a sympathetic dvd-changing projectionist and DJs at the bar.
- We will set up facing the screen, with a minimum of light on the stage to see any paper based instructions. All musicians will briefly soundcheck/tune up before each piece (if the rescore divided into sections). This could be a short "warm up" of just playing, so that the mixing desk can figure out volumes and so that we can see if we can hear each other properly or not.
- With film re-scoring it is possible to get stuck and not know what to do, but the film can't be stopped and it's hard to communicate this to other players. Communication must be worked out before the film goes on. Who do we fall back on, what exercises etc, and when does the clip go off (this is for the projectionist's benefit).
- In the event of a full-film rescore with no breaks, if you feel tired of playing and want a break or don't feel that your sound is apt for a certain section of the film, leave the stage or stay quiet.
Please add anything else you might want here or change what I've put. --ale
