It felt like a subdued session albeit typically good-humoured. We had a couple of newbies as well as the welcome return of David to our fold, back from a (long) stint with a circus in Barcelona. The lives some people lead. Needless to say, there's tight percussion throughout. I like the way the music is augmented by different players as they arrive. First bass, guitar, keyboard and drums, with sax, melodica and flute/vocals. Then a violin enters the fray, followed by a second bass, then Ghoufran on clarinet who swaps to piano afterwards, plus the usual instrument-swapping. Our endings are good when we eventually get to them. Some mysterious feedback flitters in and out from time to time. I blame the ghost of the Cube ...

The Players:

  • Marcus Valentine: Keyboards, Vocals
  • Keef Chemistry: Melodica, Vocals, Effects
  • Jon Shepherd: Bass, Guitar
  • Jean-Michel Maheu: Guitar, Percussion, Bass
  • Ghoufran Warlow: Piano, Clarinet
  • David Insua-Cao: Percussion
  • Martin Parkinson: Sax, Vocals
  • Natasha Rosling: Flute, Vocals
  • Martin Urmson: Bass
