I was very happy to have an ipad running my software after three miserable weeks without it and I enjoyed the session all the more for it. There's the odd unbalanced mix going on, but it was fun playing with the dials and we produced some interesting sounds. Spudd brought his saw back in, which you can hear to great effect throughout, plus his melodica playing on 'Super C' is just great. Alexandra's acoustic guitar can be heard poking through here and there and her castanet playing sounds great. Matt and Natasha create some good interplay on flute, as do Marcus and Rhodri on keyboards, plus Alun provides excellent and varied beats on all but 'Skating On Thin Ice'. Then there's Jean-Michel's fine acoustic guitar playing, which trips out like Hendrix in places. Someone's gonna have to physically restrain me from those knobs if they want a pure and clean sound, but give it a listen, it gets better and better the longer we play. Favourite ending? 'Skating On Thin Ice'. Favourite tempo change? Right near the end of 'How To Use The Mesmetron'. Favourite moment? Sheep bleating on 'Et Oves Illum Amplissimumque', which might also be my favourite song title ('Grandiose Sheep' in Latin through Google translate). Favourite track? Difficult to decide outright ... 'Super C'...? |
